Indian politicians DO NOT own the road.

Another one of those things that makes one's blood boil...

So, you're driving in your own city and a Indian Politician (aka. Asshole) comes behind you with his entourage of 6 cars at a minimum...  what happens next?

The first of the 6 cars, typically a Maruti Gypsy with some guards and commandos, will overtake you and start waving for you to move to or stop on the side. WHY? Simple, apparently the 'Asshole' has to move  through the traffic like he owns the road. You, the tax payer who has paid to build and maintain the road is a nobody.

So, why should you stop? Why should you move to the side? And that too for whom? The asshole of a politician who is misusing his power to get through the traffic? What life and death situation is he rushing for? And even if he is, the other people around him who are stuck in the damn traffic have less important things to get to?

Pardon my french, but the bastard needs to be pulled out of his car and whipped on the very same road.

Anyway, since that's not going to happen anytime soon, what I do for now is, I refuse to move out of the way. I keep on my lane and do not slow down. They wave at me frantically to stop or move aside, and I gesture asking WHY? They start raising their hands angrily and I do the same, without slowing down.

I may be asking for trouble and may one day get pulled over by the idiotic traffic constable and fined. Will wait for that too happen and deal with it but for now I have decided to stick to my principles about what is right and wrong. And clearly, the 'Asshole' is wrong.

PNUC: Pollution NOT Under Control

Well, I had to start writing this blog at some time! And what better thing to start with than the ridiculous levels of pollution in the city. And taxis of course, top the list.

I keep reading all the time that the government has banned taxi's older than a certain amount of years and the pollution in taxi's is kept under check etc. Well as always, it's all on paper.

Here's a video of what I see oh so often on my drive back and forth between my home and studio. Mahim Causeway is a place where you pretty much get to see it all. Accidents, fights, all possible traffic violations etc.

This taxi was ahead of me with 2 traffic police officers standing right there and 1 senior RTO officer.

Just great.

Update: I've registered a complaint with the Traffic Control Room at the RTO:
Smoky exhaust-115 CMVR & 190(2) MVA of the Traffic Laws
Against Taxi No. MH02-R-5546
